1. What does it mean to be a man of God in a culture that rejects biblical manhood?
Let’s be honest: our prevailing culture doesn’t just ignore biblical manhood - it despises it. The idea of a man who leads with conviction, submits to God’s Word, takes responsibility, and embraces sacrifice for others is ridiculed as toxic or outdated. But God’s design for manhood hasn’t changed, and it’s not up for negotiation.
1. The Man of God Knows Who He Belongs To
Being a man of God starts with fearing the Lord. Not casually affirming belief in God, not “vibing” with Jesus, but fearing God. That means living under His rule, on His terms, for His glory. You are not your own. You were bought with a price. That reorders everything.
2. The Man of God Leads, Protects, and Provides
From Adam to Christ, men are called to lead - not as dictators, but as those who bleed for others. This includes leading your wife in love, leading your kids with consistency, and taking initiative in your church and community. It means you work hard. You carry the load. You take hits first. If danger comes, you put yourself in front.
Rejecting this is not progress. It’s cowardice dressed up as compassion.
3. The Man of God Takes Responsibility for Sin and Repentance
A godly man doesn’t blame others for his failures. He owns them. He repents. He fights sin daily. He doesn’t excuse his lust or temper or laziness. He kills it. And when he falls, he gets up, confesses it, and goes again.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about direction and grit.
4. The Man of God Walks in Integrity When No One is Watching
Character is what you are when your phone is in your hand and the room is empty. It’s what you say when you’re angry and tired. A man of God fears God more than he fears being caught. He makes no peace with secret sin.
5. The Man of God Embraces the Cost
Biblical manhood costs. Your comfort, your pride, your schedule. You will be misunderstood. You might be mocked. So what? Jesus didn’t die so you could be liked - He died to make you holy. Stand up. Bear the weight. Follow Christ. That’s manhood.
No excuses. The world doesn’t need more soft men. It needs godly ones - men who fear God more than rejection, more than failure, more than comfort. Start today. Pick up the Book. Pray. Lead. Repent. Keep going.
